When routing binding channels on an arched guitar top or back, a standard router base can tilt as it follows the curved surface. This can change the cutting angle and cause the binding channel to become too deep or too shallow.

Our Binding Router Jig solves this problem by keeping the router moving vertically while the guitar body remains supported below. This helps maintain a consistent cutting angle so you can create clean, square, and evenly sized binding channels around the body.

The router carriage moves smoothly up and down and follows the contour of the guitar as you route. This allows the cutter to stay properly aligned throughout the process, helping you achieve more accurate binding channels and a better fit for your binding material.

The set includes four adjustable guitar body support brackets, which can be positioned to suit different guitar body shapes and heights. A body cradle is not included, giving you the flexibility to build your own cradle or support platform to match your preferred setup.

The router carriage is pre-drilled to fit the 1 HP Bosch Colt Router. Many other popular laminate routers can also be used with this jig. For routers with a different mounting-hole pattern, a Router Mounting Template is now included with the complete jig set. It allows you to accurately mark and drill the required mounting holes in the router carriage for your specific router. The Router Mounting Template is no longer sold separately.

If you need additional Guitar Body Supports, extra sets are available as a separate purchase option.

Works perfectly and priced right

The jig does exactly what it is supposed to do. Worked perfectly, even for a first-timer as I was.

Works great and an awesome price. Saved hundreds on the competition and a great quality tool. Works great. I used some small bungee as a spring function to lighten up the weight. Also used it to route a channel on my fretboard. Rode the raius perfectly. Im still finish sanding but here's some photos.

Excellent Quality

I am a luthier my many years of experience and I always make my own jigs. This time because of the price I decided to order this binding jig and I am very surprised by the quality. The competitors jig is more than three times the cost and it is exactly. Thanks for Elmer’s producing this jig quality at that price.

Initial impression on built quality

I am still making adjustments so have not yet used the jig to cut binding channels. There found a few issues that, although they may not affect performance, but I knew I'd kick myself for later if left unadjusted. Firstly, the router mounted correctly and seems to float nicely. However, the upright had a bit of play in the left-right direction, and I was more comfortable adding side supports which removed this play. I also was not comfortable with the sled cradle supports. The metal brackets are sharp on all the edges, and the small plastic supports only shield the bottom/top from the sharps not the sides. I started to file down the edges, but then decided to replace them with a more finished bracket and replace the plastic support with cork lined wooden supports that both support the instrument and protect the sides. I found the purchase worthwhile as it provided a worthwhile template and was easily modifiable.

We have since redesigned the guitar body supports to address this concern. The current version features a right-angle protective block that supports both the bottom and the side of the guitar body, helping keep the instrument stable while preventing direct contact with the metal bracket edges.

This updated support design is now included with the current Binding Router Jig. We truly value feedback from builders and luthiers, and comments like yours help us continue improving the product.
